MacBook Air 7,2 (13 inch, medio 2017) is volledig ontworpen rond SSD-opslag. Deze oplossing maakt dit model veel lichter en draagbaarder dan traditionele notebooks, het zorgt ook voor snellere toegang tot gegevens. Dit model is uitgerust met de vijfde generatie Intel Core i5- en i7-processors met Intel HD Graphics 6000, en zoals Apple beweert: "van het bewerken van foto's tot surfen op het web, alles gebeurt ultrasnel". De notebook is ook uitgerust met twee USB 3-poorten, zodat je de nieuwste USB 3-apparaten kunt aansluiten, maar ook al je USB 2-apparaten. Met slechts een paar aansluitingen verandert deze notebook van een ultradraagbare notebook in een compleet werkstation.
